MKO Mortar Attacks on civilians

From 1998 to 2001 the MKO was involved in more than 200 mortar attacks, bombings and hit-and-run raids on Iranian military units and government buildings and residential areas killing and injuring civilians and officials.

The MKO’s capacity to commit violent acts in Iran was so weighty   that the US think tank Brookings Institution finds the group an appropriate proxy force for the US government to destabilize the Iranian Government. The Brookings Institution’s “Which Path to Persia?” report presents the MKO as one of the “Potential Ethnic Proxies,” page 117-118 (page 130-131 of the PDF). “More recently, the group has claimed credit for over a dozen mortar attacks, assassinations, and other assaults on Iranian civilian and military targets between 1998 and 2001,” the report asserts.

February 2nd, 1998 signals a bombing in the waiting room at the entrance of Tehran’s Prosecutors Office in which several civilians including a nine-year-old boy named Milad Charvadari were injured. View the pics.

On February 5th, 2000 Mortars struck a publishing house Saturday evening in central Tehran, near key government offices including the Iranian president’s office and Parliament. One man, Mohammad Alijani, a 29-year-old employee at the publishing house, died in the explosions and four others were injured. Windows of the Golban publishing house, located across the street from the Judiciary building and top policy-making offices, were shattered and its walls pocked and broken in areas.

On January 9th and Feb 19th, 2000 three people were killed and four people were injured in the attacks on Chalsara village in Ilam province near the Iran-Iraq border.

The MKO glorified all these attacks in its official journals –as victorious operations of the group against Islamic Republic.  Actually, the normal pace of anti-Iranian operations increased during the Operation Great Bahman in February 2000, when the group launched a dozen attacks against Iran. The above- mention ones are just a few examples of thousands of innocent civilians who were targeted by the MKO agents.

MKO Terrorist Operations (aka Mojahedin Khalq, MEK, NCRI, Rajavi cult)

The Bulletin indicates the mortar attacks and bombings of Iranian cities resulted in the injury a of innocent civilians and damage to their property. MKO claimed the responsibility for those operations by issuing press releases following the incidents.

This bulletin as an illustrated, documentary evidence of MKO atrocities, works well to illuminate facts on the terrorist nature of MKO and the cause for its proscription as a terrorist organization.

House debate contaminated by Maryam Rajavi lobbyist Lord Alton (Open letter to Baroness Afshar)

Dear Lady Afshar,

baronness_haleh_afshar

Baroness Afshar

We are fortunate in the UK to have in the House of Lords an Iranian woman with your distinguished past as Professor of Politics at York University and as a highly-respected advocate for Iranian and Muslim women’s rights.

The House of Lords debate you called on December 8 was most welcome and timely. Your call to exert diplomatic pressure on Iran over its failure to administer true justice to its citizens and its mistreatment of named individuals was an admirable example of ‘speaking truth to power’.

“Having spoken truth to power all my life, I find that in this country I am invited to apply to join your Lordships’ House. I fear that in my own birthplace I would be put in prison and maybe the UK Government would not be able to help.”

Surely then you were as dismayed and frustrated as myself and many others that Lord Alton brushed aside your “deep personal experiences and knowledge of Iran” to opportunistically launch into his stock speech in support of the notorious National Council of Resistance of Iran (aka MEK, MKO, PMOI, Rajavi cult) and its leader Maryam Rajavi. To say this was an unwanted and irrelevant intervention is an understatement. Indeed, when he referred to Maryam Rajavi’s (fictitious) “commitment to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to other international instruments”, I was deeply dismayed.

Over decades, report after report by human rights bodies including various offices of the United Nations, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have charted the appalling violation of every single article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by Maryam Rajavi and her late husband in relation to their own followers. Surely it is common knowledge – at least among Iranians – that members of the MEK are held in a state of modern slavery and subjected to bizarre cultic abuses.

As a Farsi speaker I am sure you will understand when I describe Lord Alton’s contribution as throwing a mouse in the stew (moosh andakhtane Lord Alton dar dige hoghoogh bashar); he ruined it for everyone.

Rather than enjoying a free and productive discussion about human rights in Iran, the whole debate was contaminated by Lord Alton’s unwarranted support for a terrorist group which is known far and wide for its war crimes and crimes against humanity. We cannot now expect Iran not to take advantage of this speech and denounce the UK for double standards and supporting a terrorist group.

Some in the west perhaps forget that the Iranian establishment controls the narrative on the MEK in Iran and not Maryam Rajavi, and that it has lost no opportunity in the past to bring victims of MEK bombings as well as former members to the screen to testify to the MEK’s (irrefutable) acts of terrorism, treachery and human rights abuses.

As a result of its bloody and treacherous past the MEK is reviled both inside and outside Iran. I would challenge anyone to find an Iranian who has not been paid or brainwashed by the MEK who would advocate for the group. What possible motive could Lord Alton have to support this group for three decades in full knowledge of their past and current human rights abuses? What possible benefit could be brought to the debate on human rights in Iran by such support?

As a respected member of the House and an Iranian woman who for decades has advocated for women and human rights you know that this directly damages every effort by activists and protestors inside and outside Iran to democratically challenge and change their government’s suppressive, discriminatory and harmful policies. Support for Maryam Rajavi and the MEK plays directly into the hands of the hardliners who like nothing better than to point to UK support for MEK terrorism to justify their continued crackdown on civil protest.

Eight years after delisting, the UK still doesn’t trust the MKO (Mujahedin Khalq, Rajavi cult)

Eight years ago, on May 7th, Britain’s court of appeal ordered the removal of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) from the list of terrorist entities under the British law. At the time the group’s propaganda media claimed that it won an important victory being hopeful that the court victory in Britain would lead to the group’s legalization in Europe as well, potentially allowing it more freedom to organize and raise money across the continent, according to the Associated Press.

Therefore, the group’s supporters celebrated the alleged victory in their Paris based headquarters. They saw the ruling as an opening for the isolated and controlled situation they had been kept in following the arrest of their co-leader Maryam Rajavi and a number of other members of the group, in June 2003.

It was exactly the same time that the leader of the cult-like MKO Massoud Rajavi was disappeared. He has been in hiding for thirteen years now. Given that he is alive, he still does not dare to get out of his safe shelter because he knows well that the free world is not a safe place for him and his partners in his cult of personality.

As a matter of fact, the world made it clear that it does not want a destructive cult with a dark history of violence and human rights abuse. Particularly in case of the UK, it was revealed in a WikiLeaks document that was published by the Telegraph on February 4th, 2011. The document says:

“The UK Court of Appeals ruled May 7 unambiguously in favor of the Iran oppositionist group Mujahadeen e Khalq (MEK, aka MKO aka NCRI) on its long-standing petition to be de-listed as a terrorist group under UK domestic law (ref). The UK Government, which had fought the MEK’s petition from the trial level up, told Embassy it has no further legal or political recourse and must comply with the ruling; the MEK will be de-listed and its assets unfrozen sometime within the next six weeks. Official British focus has shifted to making clear that, despite the ruling, HMG will have no contact or dealings with the MEK, and to reassuring the Iranian government that the HMG continues to view the MEK as a non-credible group.”

The MKO has been a non-credible group since it has been in exile in the early 1980s. that’s why the UK government (HMG) states that it” would comply with the court’s order but would have no contact with the MEK”. The evidence is the group’s current situation in Iraq. The Iraqi government urges on the expulsion of the group from its territory and the European states including Britain do not accept to receive the MKO members in their soil except Albania which is one of the poorest countries of the eastern bloc.

The Albanian state admitted to host about 1,000 members of the MKO, over the past two years. The U.S. has assisted Albania in its efforts to resettle the residents of Camp Liberty in Albanian capital, Tirana. The US government has not admitted to receive the MKO members in its territory but it has donated $20 million to the U.N. refugee agency to help resettle the MKO, according to the State Department official. Besides, the U.S. has also provided Albania with security and economic development assistance, to help the country build up its physical capacity to house the refugees. So, the Albanian government sounds to be forced to host the destructive cult of Rajavi in its soil.

Evidently, the MKO is not welcome in Europe.

British MPs consider Mojahein Khalq (MKO, MEK, Rajavi cult) terrorist

Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, who was heading a parliamentary delegation during a three-day visit to Iran, had a press conference in the Iranian capital on Wednesday, January 8.Jack Straw confirmed that the UK government condemned any form of terrorism

To answer a question on the support for the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) and its terror acts by the British Government, Jack Straw said that when in 2009 he was the UK Justice Minister, he passed legislation based on which the MKO was outlawed in Britain and was considered a terrorist entity.

”The MKO is a terrorist organization”, he added. After the MKO was listed as a terrorist group in 2009, the group petitioned its case to the appeal court and ultimately the court ordered its delisting.

The UK delegation also visited a number of families of terror victims killed by terrorist groups, such as Mujahedin khalq on Thursday. The son of one of the victims of the MKO asked the UK officials to return the MKO to the list of terrorist groups.

Families of assassinated nuclear scientists asked the British MPs to tie bans on trafficking of the MKO terrorists in Europe.

Jack Straw confirmed that the UK government condemned any form of terrorism. “The British government has condemned the assassination of the Iranian nuclear scientists”, he said.

Ben wallace another member of the UK parliamentarian delegation spoke of the probability of relisting of the MKO as a terror group.

The Britain-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group seeks better relations with Iran. The delegates met with counterparts from the Iranian Majlis.
