The argument that the behaviours exhibited by cults cannot be brought into a legislative framework is patently false when we consider that similar ‘psychological’ behaviours have been written into law. Examples are the Coercive Control Act of 2015, the Modern Slavery Act of 2015, prosecutions for child sexual exploitation involving grooming.
