Illir Nezaj of Albania Reveals MEK a Problem in International Forum

Posted on: 2021/03/13

Anne Khodabandeh (Singleton), Iran Interlink, March 13 2021:… Dr Illir Nezaj from the Albanian embassy in Geneva found himself reading a prepared statement defending the MEK presence in his country. In this speech, Nezaj claims ‘MEK is not a terrorist organization’. That will be news to the many thousands of victims of MEK terrorism in Iran, Iraq and beyond. Delighted that their man has done his job, the MEK lost no time in spreading this around social media, using the fake Heshmat Alavi account to disseminate the news. Open Letter to EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson

Posted on: 2021/02/18

Anne Khodabndeh (Singleton), Iran Interlink, February 18 2021:…  When you go to the Kakavia border crossing with Greece, where you will visit the Frontex-Albania joint border control operation, please be aware of the attempted illegal deportation of an Iranian refugee across that border last year at the behest of the MEK leader Maryam Rajavi. Ehsan Bidi, who came to Albania as a refugee (not with the MEK) and has been granted the right to residency, is currently being held in detention. Ehsan Bidi is – among many other former MEK members – an outspoken critic of Maryam Rajavi. In response, she demanded his deportation. Bidi was held in detention without charge or recourse to legal representation for a year. Open Letter to EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson

MEK Problem For Albania Not Iran

Posted on: 2020/10/20

Anne Khodabandeh (Singleton), The Iranian, October 20 2020:… From deep inside its rabbit hole in Albania the MEK has created yet another Alice in Wonderland style fairy tale about Iranian spies and agents coming to get them. In doing so, Maryam Rajavi reminds us exactly why the European Union expelled her and her lieutenants from Europe and sent her into exile in Albania. The MEK presence – a magnet for trouble – presents an unacceptable national security risk to any country. MEK Problem For Albania Not Iran.

MEK Members’ Only Task: Achieve Martyrdom By Dying For Maryam Rajavi

Posted on: 2020/09/20

Anne Khodabandeh (Singleton), Iran Interlink, September 20 2020:… Instead of putting the lives of her followers at the forefront of her concerns, MEK leader Maryam Rajavi gleefully claimed these newly dead as “martyrs” and heaped praise on them simply for dying. Two things are significant in this callous declaration. First, the cause of death was missing, unlike all previously announced deaths for which some explanation – true or not – has been forthcoming. Such an omission will be interpreted as an admission; these individuals really did die from COVID-19. MEK Members’ Only Task: Achieve Martyrdom By Dying For Maryam Rajavi

MEK Families Petition Addressing Albanian PM , A Unique Opportunity To Take Control

Posted on: 2020/05/12

Anne Khodabandeh,, May 12 2020:… A petition addressed to Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama has reached over ten thousand signatures. The petition was created by estranged families who need help to contact their loved ones trapped in the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) cult’s closed camp ‘Ashraf 3’ in Albania. The families are demanding that PM Rama ensures they get this contact. Now with the global coronavirus pandemic affecting Albania as elsewhere, they are even more urgently concerned to have news about the fate of their loved ones.  MEK Families Petition Addressing Albanian PM , A Unique Opportunity To Take Control

MEK In Albania Hijacks America’s Iran Policy

Posted on: 2020/03/01

Anne Khodabandeh (Singleton) ,, March 01 2020:… From its first arrival in Albania in 2013, the MEK continued its antagonistic anti-Iran political activities. In 2017, the Trump administration overturned plans to de-radicalize the MEK members. Instead, the MEK built an extra-territorial garrison to house the enslaved members so they wouldn’t escape. Emboldened, the MEK was able to coerce the Albanian government into pushing back against Iran through its embassy in Tirana. Following the Soleimani assassination two more Iranian diplomats were expelled from Albania and rapid response police were deployed to protect the MEK camp as though it were a diplomatic facility and not a refugee camp. Prime Minister Edi Rama was forced to admit that although Albania had accepted to host the MEK as a humanitarian gesture, the group now poses a national security issue for his country. US-Backed MEK In Albania Akin To Dumping Toxic Waste Without A Decontamination Plan

Posted on: 2019/08/20

Anne Khodabndeh (Singleton), The Iranian, August 19 2019:… President Rama is unrepentant. In an interview with FaxNews (see translation below), journalist and activist Aulon Kalaja commented that Rama has used hosting the MEK for America as an excuse to remain in power and delay the reforms to the judicial system which are necessary if Albania is to accede to the EU. Anne Khodabandeh ICSA Conference : Mapping the Cult Landscape

Posted on: 2019/07/18

Anne Khodabandeh (Singleton), Open Minds, July 17 2019:… The question is, can we bring cult leaders to court for cultic abuse? The argument that the behaviours exhibited by cults cannot be brought into a legislative framework is patently false when we consider that similar ‘psychological’ behaviours have been written into law. Examples are the Coercive Control Act of 2015, the Modern Slavery Act of 2015, prosecutions for child sexual exploitation involving grooming. And of course, the civil law of undue influence which protects categories of vulnerable people from coercive persuasion. Anne Khodabandeh ICSA Conference : Mapping the Cult Landscape .

Pompeo Set To Back The Wrong Group Again (MEK, Rajavi cult)

Posted on: 2019/04/24

Anne Khodabandeh (Singleton), Iran Interlink, April 24 2019:… Exactly fifteen years ago we wrote about how making a deal with the MEK was a big mistake by the USA. At that time, the MEK led by Massoud Rajavi was closer to Saddam Hussein than the US. Today the MEK led by Maryam Rajavi is closer the Saudis than the US. Either way, the MEK leadership has proven over and over that they will always put their own interests above that of anything. To make this mistake once is shameful. For Mike Pompeo to repeat the mistake now is simply wrong.

It’s a mistake to treat the MEK as a normal opposition group

Posted on: 2019/02/27

Anne Khodabandeh, Iran Interlink, February 27 2019:… It is a mistake to approach the MEK as a normal opposition. Indeed, quoting MEK members is like giving a platform to Flat Earthers or Creationists. It is not balanced reporting. The MEK is a unique entity. Not an opposition, not a ‘group’ or ‘organization’, descriptions which imply a certain kind of accountable system and order.
