Ahmad Chalabi, the Iraqi politician who died in 2015, is widely known for pushing for the U.S. invasion of Iraq. From exile he helped provide the manufactured excuses needed by the United States for the invasion in 2003 but was eventually denied any share in power after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Chalabi was perhaps the Iraqi most closely associated with President George W. Bush’s decision to go to war. He cultivated close ties with journalists in Washington and London, American lawmakers, the neoconservative advisers who helped shape Bush’s foreign policy, and a wide network of Iraqi exiles, many of whom were paid for fabricating and distributing intelligence against Saddam Hussein’s government.

It was later revealed that his group, the Iraqi National Congress, received more than $100 million from the C.I.A. and other agencies between its foundation in 1992 and the start of the war. He cultivated friendships with a circle of hawkish republicans – Dick Cheney, Douglas J. Feith, William J. Luti, Richard N. Perle and Paul D. Wolfowitz – who were central in the United States’ march to war.

Chalabi was used by the American warmongers to ‘sell’ the claim that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction and that he had refused to fully cooperate with United Nations weapons inspections as an excuse to launch war against the country.

But the case for the war was predicated on flawed intelligence, and a 2006 report by the Senate Intelligence Committee concluded that “false information” from sources affiliated with the “Iraqi National Congress” was used to support key intelligence community assessment on Iraq and was widely distributed in intelligence products prior to war.

Exiles bend Washington’s ear—and drag us into conflict

Did Chalabi push the U.S. into the war or was he rather used by advocates of war to produce excuses and announce false intelligence? It was later proved that Chalabi was truly the loudspeaker of the White House warmongers whenever they were not able to directly show their faces. They needed a so-called opposition group to do the job for them or at least to pull the trigger.

Now the Iranian Maryam Rajavi, leader of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO, NCR, NLA, Rajavi Cult) is playing (and has played for a long time) the same role as the Iraqi Ahmad Chalabi, this time in relation to Iran.

MEK Iran Disinfo and Heshmat Alavi

This echoes the small task the MEK was previously given to promote the manufactured nuclear crisis against Iran. In August 2002, Alireza Jafarzadeh, the representative of the National Council of Resistance (a front organization for the MEK) to the U.S., appeared in a press conference in Washington and issued some nuclear intelligence against Iran. This was later proven to have been handed over to the MEK by Israeli Intelligence. This was being done while the group was listed as a terrorist entity by the U.S. State Department. The Americans only needed an Iranian opposition group to start the crisis, it wasn’t fussy about which one.

The MEK is a highly controversial group. It was responsible for killing several Americans in Iran during the 1970s. In 1992 its members attempted a violet attack on Iran’s U.N. delegation in New York. In 2012 it was removed from the U.S. State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations after an intense lobbying campaign that included paying retired U.S. government officials and leaders. Its supporters in the White House say the MEK has been an essential conduit for sensitive information about Iran’s nuclear program.

Nobody Can Be “Comfortable” With Regime Change Involving MEK

MEK members in Iraq were largely disarmed after the 2003 American invasion. The group had been granted protection by Saddam Hussein before the invasion and by the US army after the invasion and lived at Camp Ashraf for two decades. After the U.S. troop withdrawal in 2009, many group members moved in 2012 from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty, an abandoned U.S. military base. They have been now granted a remote and isolated base in Albania under the Trump Administration where the leaders have reconstructed their cultic internal relations and are doing their job in exactly the same way as performed by Ahmad Chalabi – the manufacture of excuses and false narratives to pave the way for war.

The MEK’s well financed meetings in Paris and now Albania are used as a platform for American politicians to announce their policy of regime change in Iran and the imposition of ‘maximum pressure’ sanctions. It is the only so-called opposition group which fully and unequivocally supports this policy to push the U.S. into war with Iran.

The Trump administration is conflicted about Iran. Even as the warmongers in the White House push for war there are others who are beginning to pull back. The MEK played its role in promoting accusations about Iran’s involvement in the Saudi missile attack. But this time, unlike Chalabi’s accusations, neither politicians nor media have given credence to Maryam Rajavi’s claims. It could well be that history lessons have been learned.

The Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO, NCR, NLA, Rajavi Cult), an armed opposition to the Islamic Republic of Iran, faced dramatic changes after Iraq was invaded by US forces in 2003, and Saddam Hussein, the only state sponsor of the leader Massoud Rajavi, was toppled.

According to the RAND report, the US recognized the cult base Ashraf as a base of the enemy and therefore once the MEK surrendered to the US military, the group was disarmed. But soon instructions from Washington kept the cult intact in their base in Iraq and protection was granted.

John Bolton, who served as the US government representative to the UN at the time, was the key lobbyist for the MEK. He was and is a regular paid attendee of Maryam Rajavi’s annual meetings. Several others, like Bolton, also desire to intensify conflict with Iran for the political and economic benefit of an elite rather than in the national interests of the US.

All through the years since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq in 2003, the subsequent Iraqi governments have insisted that the terrorist group – which was considered a threat to national security – be expelled from Iraq.

Finally, the US administration entered talks with the Albanian authorities and with the efforts of Hillary Clinton, who was the Secretary of State at the time, the group was moved to Tirana. The aim was to disband the group and reintegrate the individuals back into normal society. At that time this was called a humanitarian act which had no political purpose.

After the new administration took office in Washington and John Bolton became the National Security Adviser and Rudy Giuliani, who has visited Maryam Rajavi several times, became President Trump’s personal advocate, these plans changed and a remote isolated base belonging to the US air force was granted to the terrorist cult to build a new closed camp. The aim was to stop further defections from the group which had become easy after moving from Camp Liberty in Iraq to apartment blocks in Tirana city.

The US promised the Albanian authorities that the MEK presence in their country was temporary and there would be no costs or problems for the Albanian government. This is not the case now of course which is the consequence of new officials taking over the White House.

The policy of the Trump administration has been to exert maximum pressure on Iran to make the government yield to US demands. Supporting a terrorist cult, which claimed at least six US citizens lives in Tehran before the revolution and abandoning the program to disband the cult is part of this policy. A policy which is proving to be totally wrong and which so far has sent all the achievements of the former US administration down the drain.

The MEK leaders prevented the disintegration of the group with the direct help of the US team of hard liners under president Trump. Now the cult is in Albania and represents a security threat to Europe more than anywhere else.

One might ask, did Donald Trump mean to threaten Iran or Europe? The Iraqis managed to rid their country of the terrorist cult. Could Europe in general and Albania in particular manage to do the same?

White House crumbling under the weight of Bolton’s ambitions

White House crumbling under the weight of Bolton’s ambitionsEbrahim Khodabandeh, Iran Interlink, May 24 2019:… Bolton believes that Massoud (or Maryam) Rajavi of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO, Rajavi cult), just like Ahmed Chalabi during the war against Iraq, can be beneficial in creating excuses and repeating the White House’s wishes under the banner of a so-called opposition group White House crumbling under the weight of Bolton’s ambitions.

White House crumbling under the weight of Bolton’s ambitions

White House crumbling under the weight of Bolton’s ambitions

John Bolton, Donald Trump’s national security adviser in the White House (who was the US ambassador to the UN during the Iraq War in George Bush’s administration), along with Benjamin Netanyahu and Muhammad Bin Salman have for a long time been in a ‘warmonger club’ which has striven to drag the United States into a war with Iran, paid for by US citizens for the benefit of a small elite.

Bolton believes that Massoud (or Maryam) Rajavi of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO, Rajavi cult), just like Ahmed Chalabi during the war against Iraq, can be beneficial in creating excuses and repeating the White House’s wishes under the banner of a so-called opposition group. The Rajavi terrorist cult has always been ready to offer its treacherous services to any bidder. And Bolton, after Saddam Hussein, is eager to use them.

The Saudis provide the funds, the Israelis provide the propaganda means and lobbying, and Rajavi plays the role of the loudspeaker while Bolton lays claim to the ammunition – all to launch a new war no matter what the cost.

Bolton has repeatedly announced his desire for regime change in Iran through the imposition of severe sanctions followed by military action. This wish has been constantly publicized by the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization to prepare the world, and in particular western public opinion, for another disastrous war.

Trump has announced that a war with Iran would be the end of the country. This assessment is absolutely wrong. Apart from the trio of warmongers, no official in the world has agreed with that assessment. On the contrary they all advise that such a war would become the US’s tragedy.

When Trump took office, he rejected the Iran nuclear agreement – a UN Security Council resolution signed by 7 major countries. He promised to get a better deal with Iran and introduced 12 unacceptable demands thereby setting foot on the path of no return.

Bolton’s ambitions and Trump’s lack of knowledge and experience have put the United States in a situation of complete deadlock. As time passes the US administration sinks deeper into the swamp they have created themselves. Getting into a war or pulling back from their demands have both become impossible for them now.

The responsibility for all this rests on the shoulders of John Bolton and Rudi Giuliani and other warmongers who fed the president with false data and assessments and paved the ground for dragging the White House into the present deadlock.

The Bush administration entered into the war with Iraq in 2003 to bring peace and security to the region. How do they explain this to the families of over 4000 US servicemen and women killed in Iraq whose loved ones lost their lives in Iraq because some few individuals wanted to attack Saddam Hussein for supporting terrorist groups like the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization? The group which they are now supporting themselves.

US forces eventually pulled out of Iraq only to leave the situation much worse than before. In Syria the US intervention did not help anyone and Trump himself was a critic of his country’s military involvement there. In Afghanistan, US officials are negotiating with the Taliban after invading the country and changing their regime. The Israelis in Gaza and the Saudis in Yemen are involved in endless devastating wars which have no winners.

War with Iran is the dearest wish of John Bolton and other warmongers such as Rajavi, but none of them give a thought to the outcome for the US and do not care a jot about the country’s national interests.

But at the end of the day, Donald Trump should pay the price and be responsible toward his people. The American people have paid the price of all the US wars from Vietnam to Iraq.

It is the critical duty of the American nation and its elected representatives to stop John Bolton and remove him from the White House before it is too late, to go back to the nuclear deal and forget about the regime change policy, and lift the unjustified sanctions imposed on the people of Iran.
